What is RSV?

If you or your child is experiencing symptoms of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), it’s important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. RSV is a highly contagious viral infection that affects the respiratory system and can lead to serious complications, especially in young children and older adults.

Symptoms of RSV include coughing, sneezing, runny nose, and fever. In severe cases, the infection can cause difficulty breathing and pneumonia.

RSV is highly contagious and can spread through contact with infected respiratory secretions, such as saliva, mucus, or nasal secretions. It can also be spread through contact with contaminated surfaces or objects.

At our ER in Austin, our team of experienced healthcare providers is equipped to diagnose and treat RSV quickly and effectively. We will provide the appropriate medication to help relieve symptoms and prevent complications.

In severe cases, hospitalization may be necessary to receive intravenous fluids and oxygen therapy. We are equipped to provide the necessary care to help patients recover from RSV and prevent complications.

Preventing the spread of RSV is important to avoid transmitting the infection to others, especially those who are at higher risk of complications, such as young children and older adults. Good hygiene practices, such as washing hands frequently and avoiding close contact with infected individuals, can help reduce the risk of transmission.

If you or your child is experiencing symptoms of RSV in Austin, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, or Round Rock, don’t hesitate to visit our ER for prompt and effective treatment. Our team is here to help you feel better and prevent the infection from spreading.
