Arturo Portillo, M.D. was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas and is board-certified in Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Portillo received his BA in Biology from Baylor University, his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York where he was chief resident in his final year. During residency he had the opportunity to practice international emergency medicine in South America where he also served as an academic teaching attending with the residency program and was also the Director of Medical Student Education.
After several years in academic medicine including caring for patients and teaching residents, Dr. Portillo is thrilled to return to Texas and to be a part of Austin Emergency Center and the Austin community where he is proud to practice high level, patient-centric care.
